Safety & Privacy is not a slogan slide — it is how the product is structured: account for access, anonymity for publication, private tools that never belong on the public feed.
What it is
Between Us uses accounts (email or OAuth) so people can sign in across web and apps. Public Stories still display as Anonymous to other users. Private check-ins and personal journal entries stay out of the community feed and off the marketing site.
Reporting and moderation exist because anonymity without accountability becomes a harassment tool. The goal is honest conversation with guardrails — not lawless dumping.
How people use it
Before you Spill, remove identifying details that could harm someone else. Use reporting when a post crosses into threats, hate, or doxxing. Use private check-ins for moods that do not need an audience.
If you are in crisis, Between Us is not emergency care — contact local emergency services or a crisis line. The community is peer support, not clinical treatment.
Why it matters
Trust is the product. People only write hard truths when they believe the system will not casually expose them or amplify harm.
Clear separation between public Stories, editorial Journal, and private check-ins also helps visitors understand what the website is for — and what requires signing in.
